TRAVERSE CITY — Miriam Pico and her band will give a concert today to benefit Family Partnership Mentoring Grand Traverse.

The performance starts at 7 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 222 Cass St. Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 13 and younger. New gallery opens

TRAVERSE CITY — The Bower Clock Company will hold a grand opening today.

Lions Club breakfast

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Lions Club is celebrating 70 years of service and will host a breakfast on Saturday.

The meal will be served from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at American Legion Post #35, 1231 Hastings St., with music from 9-11 a.m. by Elliott and Brandon Tyson. The meal is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 5-9, and free for children 4 and younger. For details, call 275-6199 or 943-0804.

Native heritage

TRAVERSE CITY — Pat McCabe, Woman Stands Shining, a member of the Dine (Navajo) Nation from Taos, N.M., will kick off Native American Heritage Month with a program on “The Science of Right Relations and Sustainability” today.

McCabe will discuss sustainability from an indigenous science perspective at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building auditorium on Northwestern Michigan College’s main campus. Tickets are $10 in advance at Oryana Natural Foods Market; $15 at the door.

Delbert Michel art

TRAVERSE CITY — Gallery Fifty at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons will host an exhibit showcasing 50 years of Delbert Michel’s art.

The exhibit opens with an artist reception and book signing of Michel’s book “Five Decades: A Life in Art” from 6-8 p.m. today in Rinaldo Hall, adjacent to Gallery Fifty. “Glancing Back, Looking Forward: Work by Delbert Michel” will be on display through December. For a show preview go to
