Jazz performance and film premiere

TRAVERSE CITY — Grammy Award winner Bob James will perform Sunday alongside his daughter Hilary and an all-star jazz band to accompany to premiere of a documentary film about his music.

The film, “Hearts Together: The Journey of a Song,” is the story of a song James dedicated in to the people of Japan after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami that devastated coastal areas of the island nation. The event will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at the State Theatre and costs $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $8 for members, children and students.

Hamlin in concert

TRAVERSE CITY — Singer/songwriter Trina Hamlin will play the second of two local concerts Friday. Tickets for the performance are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

She will perform at 8 p.m. tonight at Conundrum Cafe, 603 Frankfort St., Elberta. Tickets are available at the cafe, Frankfort Bookstore and in Beulah at East Shore Market. Tickets and details also are available by calling 352-8150.

Final arts and crafts

ELK RAPIDS — More than 60 crafters will participate in the final Elk Rapids Arts and Crafts Show of the season.

Chaplin silent films

ACME — The Music House Museum, 7377 U.S. 31 North, will screen Charlie Chaplin in “The Tramp” and “The Music Tramp” on Saturday.

The classic silent films will be shown at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., with musical accompaniment on the Wurlitzer organ and piano by Dale and Gail Zieger. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for seniors. For details, reservations or tickets, visit or call 938-9300.
