Winter Tour

The Women's Winter Tour celebration of women, winter and chocolate, will be held Feb. 3 on the Leelanau Trail, starting at the western edge of Traverse City and ending at Black Star Farms in Leelanau County. Visit

Canstruction starts

The Father Fred Foundation in conjunction with the local chapter of the American Institute of Architects is holding the 2nd Annual Canstruction-TC competition to benefit the Father Fred Foundation's food pantry Feb. 2-7. Fourteen teams will be creating large sculptures entirely out of cans of food to kick off the foundation's Frostbite Food Drive. Saturday is the official build day at the Grand Traverse Mall, with sculptures displayed through Feb. 7. Call 947-2055

Snowshoe Tours

Winter Snowshoe Tours are held Sundays at 2:30 p.m. at Michigan Legacy Art Park near Thompsonville. A guide will lead snowshoers on a 1.6-mile hike across hilly terrain to view 45 works of art. Fee is $10 per adult and free for youth 17 and under with a paying adult. Bring snowshoes; rentals are available at Crystal Mountain. Call 378-4963.

Leelanau Stampede

The Snowshoe Stampede is Saturday at the Leelanau Outdoor Center with a 5K race and a one-mile Snowflake Race for kids 12 and under. Events will be followed by a hot lunch and entertainment. Snowshoe rentals will be available at $12 adult, $8 child. Call 334-3808.

The 2013 Grand Traverse Home Builders Home Expo at the Grand Traverse Resort is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 946-2305.

BACN benefit

Benzie Masons and Boy Scouts will put on their aprons Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Frankfort for a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Benzie Area Christian Neighbors. Admission is $7 for adults, $20 for a family and kids under 12 are free. Call 882-9544.

Sturgeon Shivaree

Sturgeon For Tomorrow will host the Black Lake Sturgeon Shivaree today and Saturday on Black Lake in Cheboygan, with an ice fishing contest, poker run, Native American Drum ceremony, kids' games, laser light skating exhibition and music in the entertainment tent.
