Dramatized readings

LELAND — The Leelanau Players will present “A Short Evening with David Ives” today and Saturday.

The dramatized readings of six of Ives’ plays will start at 7:30 p.m. both evenings at the Old Art Building, 111 Main St. Tickets are $10 at the door. For details, call Al Lien at 620-7287.

Smelt dinner

CEDAR — The Cedar Rod & Gun Club will host its 54th annual smelt dinner today.

The meal will be served from 3-8 p.m. at the Solon Township Hall. The cost is $11 for adults and $5 for children.

Family Band at the Dennos

TRAVERSE CITY — The Jay Ungar and Molly Mason Family Band will give a concert Saturday in Milliken Auditorium at the Dennos Museum, 1410 College Dr.

Ungar and Mason are one of the most celebrated duos in American acoustic music. They will be joined by Jay’s daughter, Ruth Ungar Merenda, and her husband, Michael Merenda.

The performance starts at 8 p.m. Ticketholders also are invited to a post-concert reception with the performers.

Tickets are $25 in advance, $22 for museum members, and $28 at the door, plus fees. They are available by calling the Milliken box office, 995-1553, or online at

Christian music concert at Acme resort

ACME — The Allthemore Concert, named for the four-musician band Allthemore from the Traverse City area, will be Saturday at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa.

The doors open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. concert, which will also feature Artisan Ocean from Cadillac, and Drew Hale and Adam Dennis from Traverse City. Allthemore also will release their new EP titled “The Wake Up Call.”

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 11 and younger. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit Single MOMM Ministries. For tickets or details, call 534-6000 or visit

Oboe Fanfare

INTERLOCHEN — The Traverse Symphony Orchestra will welcome home a guest artist with an “Oboe Fanfare” concert on Sunday.
