Concert band performs tonight

TRAVERSE CITY — “Marching into Spring” is the theme for Northwestern Michigan College’s Concert Band performance tonight.

The band, directed by Pat Brumbaugh, will take the stage at 8 p.m. Friday in Milliken Auditorium at the Dennos Museum Center, 1410 College Dr. Admission is free.

‘Chilly Fest’ to be held in Central Lake

CENTRAL LAKE — The Central Lake Chamber of Commerce invites the community to its first Chilly Fest and Ice Fishing Tournament on Saturday, March 1.

Fishing tournament registration is from 7-8 a.m. at the Thurston Park Pavilion. The tournament starts at 8 a.m. on Intermediate Lake and closes at 3 p.m. Snowbuilding, sledding, family winter games and music will be offered from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Thurston Park. Ice fishing tournament winners will be announced at 3:15 p.m.

1920s ‘roar’ on stage at Traverse City West

TRAVERSE CITY — West Senior High School’s Music Department invites the community to travel back to the “Roaring Twenties” with its production of “Thoroughly Modern Millie.”

The play will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Feb. 28-March 1, March 7-8 and March 14-15; and at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, and Sundays, March 2, 9 and 16, at the WSH auditorium, 5376 N. OTP auditions set

TRAVERSE CITY — The Old Town Playhouse has announced auditions for its May 2-17 production of Robert Harling’s “Steel Magnolias.”

Auditions will start at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the playhouse, 148 E. Eighth St. Auditioners will be asked to read from the script and should be familiar with the play.
