Family Reunion plays at Sleder’s Tavern

TRAVERSE CITY — It’s a Family Reunion at Sleder’s Family Tavern on Sunday.

The group, featuring mother-daughter duo Mary Anne and Elizabeth Rivers with old friends Pat Niemisto and Norm Wheeler, will appear in a special Mother’s Day concert on the porch starting at 4 p.m.

Singer-songwriter-storyteller Mary Anne Rivers has been performing for more than 40 years. One of the founders of the Grand Rapids Folk Society, she’s been active on the northern Michigan folk scene for many years. Daughter Elizabeth has been singing with her mother since the age of 7, and performing in the Traverse City area for 15 years.

Niemisto will play guitar, mandolin and bass backup as well as adding to the vocal harmonies. One of the founders of the Beach Bards, Wheeler will accompany on trumpet.

Tickets are $15 in advance from Sleder’s, Oryana Food Cooperative, Brilliant Books and West Side Beverage, or $20 at the door. For tickets or other information, call 947-9213.
