TRAVERSE CITY -- Barbara Faith Jordan will hold a CD release concert at the City Opera House Sunday.
Jordan tries to make a difference with her music and Sunday's concert promises to be no different.
One of the songs on the new album, "Passages," is about domestic violence. Jordan plans to roll statistics about domestic violence onscreen to help raise awareness while performing "See What You Made Me Do."
Storytelling "has the power to touch places in people's hearts in a way that's meaningful to each person," Jordan said.
The 55-year-old writes about middle-aged love in "Inside Out" and about a reformed shoplifter in "I Had to Take It," using a light-hearted approach to deliver her message.
Jordan mixes genres in her music, skipping from jazz to country to pop to folk.
She'll be joined by Derrik Hall on keyboard, Cris Pico on percussion, Michael Racine on lead guitar and Paul Recht on bass. Jordan plays rhythm guitar.
Jordan's day job is as a management consultant, but she has been performing for more than 20 years and released her first CD in 1997.
