Festival of Tables May 9 and 10
TRAVERSE CITY -- The 7th annual Festival of Tables to benefit Child and Family Services will be held May 9 and 10 at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons.
A Gala Preview will be held on Friday, May 9, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person and include couples' cocktails and hors d'oeuvres with live and silent auctions. A luncheon will be held Saturday, May 10, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person, or $500 for a reserved table for 10.

Appraisal Day at Dennos Museum
TRAVERSE CITY -- The Dennos Museum Center will hold Appraisal Day on Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Local art appraiser Don Butkovich will be at the museum to give verbal appraisals. Each person can bring a maximum of two items.
The proceeds from a $5 fee per art work will be donated to the museum's museum programming fund. Reservations are required.

Ray Nargis at Horizon Books
TRAVERSE CITY -- Ray Nargis will be signing copies of his book, "Almost Tomorrow," at Horizon Books on May 8 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Nargis, a former resident of the Traverse City area, has participated in both Stone Circle and the Beach Bards storytelling and poetry circles. He now lives in Minnesota, where he hosts a radio show.
Volunteer tonight for Cherry Festival
TRAVERSE CITY -- The National Cherry Festival will hold a Volunteer Fair in downtown Traverse City tonight from 4 to 7 p.m.
Those interested in finding out more and signing up to volunteer at this year's festival are invited to stop at the tent, which will be erected at the Chase Bank plaza near the corner of Park and Front. The gathering coincides with the downtown Traverse City Art Walk, also today.

Footliters open new production
CADILLAC -- The Cadillac Footliters will stage "Arsenic and Old Lace."
Shows will be held May 2, 3, 9 and 10 at Cadillac First Christian Church, next to Carter Lumber. Showtimes are 8 p.m., with the addition of a 2 p.m. Saturday matinee.

LELAND -- Leland Public School Drama students will perform "Annie" for two weekends starting May 16.

Student musicians showcased Sunday
TRAVERSE CITY -- The Northwest MI Jazz Experience presents the Elmwood Kathryn Quartet, vocalist Rachel Borovik and the Interlochen Arts Academy Jazz Combo on Sunday, May 4, from 3:30 to 6 p.m.
The performance will take place at the Grand Traverse Pie Company in Traverse City and is open to the public. Admission includes complimentary quiche, pie and coffee.

Children's Choir performs Sunday
TRAVERSE CITY -- The Northwestern Michigan Children's Choir will present the final concert of its 2007-2008 season at 3 p.m. Sunday in Lars Hockstad Auditorium at Central Grade School.
The concert will feature four ensembles including the Treble Choir under the direction of David and Mary Parrish; Advanced Choir under the direction of Stephanie Schall Brazee; and Chamber and Concert Choirs under the direction of Mark and Barbara Puchala. Guest soloists will include Jean-Marie Riccobono, clarinet; John Beery, tuba; Michael Parrish, percussion; and Andy Evans, bass.
General admission is $8. Senior citizens 62 and older and children 12 and younger are $6. Tickets will be available at Lars Hockstad Auditorium prior to the concert.
Reception marks new exhibits
MANISTEE -- An artists reception will be held at River Street Gallery on Saturday, May 17, from noon to 4 p.m.
The event marks a trunk show, "Still Life in Oil," featuring artists Mimi Prussack and Ilene Curtis. Refreshments will be served.

Living History at the Heritage Center
TRAVERSE CITY -- Meteorologist Greg MacMaster will launch the Living History Series at the Grand Traverse Heritage Center on Thursday, May 8.
The 7 p.m. program will focus on the hidden treasures that lie on the bottom of Grand Traverse Bay. Admission is free, though a $5 donation at the door is encouraged.

Hummingbirds perch in Traverse
