'College A Cappella Night' fundraiser

Traverse City — Performances by two college a cappella groups will raise money for the West Middle School choirs.

"College A Cappella Night" will feature the Accafellas from Michigan State University and Tangled Up In Blue, a women's a cappella group from the University of Wisconsin. The groups will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Lars Hockstad Auditorium in Central Grade School, 301 W. Seventh St. Tickets are $5 each.

Singwell Academy expands classes

Traverse City — Singwell Academy Singing School will begin its winter session with an expanded class schedule.

After-school classes will be offered starting Monday, Jan. 10. Classes in Traverse City meet Mondays at Singwell Headquarters, Tuesdays at the Children's House, and Wednesdays at the Pathfinder School. Classes also are held Thursdays at Cadillac Junior High School and Fridays at the Ramsdell Theatre in Manistee.

Each class is limited to 10 students who receive individual vocal instruction, musical materials, including accompaniment CD, and weekly performance experience. Classes are taught by Nicole Philibosian, instructor of voice at Interlochen Arts Academy.

Gaylord class of 1971 plans reunion

Gaylord — Members of Gaylord High School and St. Marys High School classes of 1971 are planning a 40-year reunion.

The get-together will be held at 3 p.m. July 16 at the Otsego County Fire Department Building, 811 S. Wisconsin. Organizers also hold monthly planning meetings in Gaylord.
