Boy Scout Troop 36 will sell cookies

TRAVERSE CITY — Boy Scout Troop 36 will hold its second annual cookie sale starting Saturday, Dec. 4, and continuing until all the cookies are gone. In 2009, the troop sold less than 300 dozen in two weeks.

The cookies cost $5 a dozen and come in decorative bags for holiday gift giving.

Selections this year include mint chocolate chip, Holiday M&Ms, and snickerdoodle with holiday sprinkles.

Proceeds benefit the troop fund.

The troop is based at Central United Methodist Church.

TC High School's Arts and Crafts Show

TRAVERSE CITY — The public is invited to shop for holiday gifts at Traverse City High School's Arts and Crafts Show.

The show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, in the gymnasium, student activity center and cafeteria at the school, 3962 Three Mile Road. Call Juli VanPelt, 933-5869, for more information.

Story time with a Christian theme

TRAVERSE CITY — Shannon Robertson, librarian at Holy Angels Preschool and Elementary, will share Bible stories and adventures based on Christian values in a story hour for toddlers and preschoolers.

"Cherub Tales" will be offered from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Fridays, Dec. 3 and 17, Jan. 7 and 21, Feb. 4 and 18, March 4 and 18, April 15, and May 6 and 20, in the Holy Angels Library, 130 E. 10th St.

Participants also are invited to stay after for lunch in the school dining hall.

Meal prices are $4.50 for adults and $3 for children. Call 946-5961 to learn more.

Mensa scholarships available for 2011

FIFE LAKE — Northern Michigan Mensa is offering scholarships to individuals enrolling in college for the 2011-12 year.

Awards between $300 and $1,000 are available. The deadline for completed applications is Jan 15.

Official entry forms and instructions regarding the required essay are available by going to www.mensafoundation.org/scholarships and inserting your zip code.
