Julia Otwell and Katie Perkins were the top two placers, leading Traverse City Central to a win in the 18-team Elk Rapids Invitational.
Otwell won in 19:05, nine seconds ahead of Perkins.
Sam Ehle was fifth in 19:38, followed by Hannah Debortoli in eight with a 20:02 and Jessica Krantz 11th at 20:10.
The Trojans won with a team score of 27, with Benzie Central (45) second, followed by Traverse City West (115), Harbor Springs (117) and Gaylord (125).
The meet featured three defending state champion teams, with TC Central (Division 1), Benzie (D-3) and Harbor (D-4).
The Trojans were without No. 3 runner Maria Bahra, who was taking the ACT.
Michaele Carnegie led Benzie with a third-place finish in 19:22 and Taylor Nye was fourth (19:24). Amber Peabody rounded out the top 10 with a 20:10 good for the 10th spot.
TC West was paced by a sixth-place effort from Marcy Marek (19:42) and a ninth-place finish by Hannah Rickard (20:06).
Harbor Springs' Maddie Buntin was seventh in 20:01.
Central also won the junior varsity race with a team score of 25, coming in ahead of Benzie's 49.
Trojan teammates Amy Marsh and Alyssa Padden were first and second in 21:19 and 21:20. Adrian Bruder was fourth in 20:52.
Central heads to regionals next Saturday at Carson City in a field featuring two of the top three ranked teams in the state in Central and Rockford. East Kentwood, last year's state runner-up, will also be there.
Benzie boys run away with Elks Rapids Invite
Race runner-up Travis Clous helped Benzie Central win the 17-team Elk Rapids Invitational.
The Huskies posted a team score of 43, ahead of second-place Gaylord (68). TC West was third at 108, followed by Charlevoix (134) and Harbor Springs (139).
Suttons Bay's Ben Wynsma won the race with a time of 16:47, seven seconds ahead of Clous.
Talon Morris (seventh in 17:12) and Rick Jones (ninth in 17:16) were other top-10 finishers for Benzie, while David Rhodes, Robert Kerby and William Huddleston were all in the top 15.
Gaylord's Bryan Slocum was sixth in 17:03 to lead the Blue Devils to a runner-up spot.
Sam Kosinski placed third in 16:55 to lead TC West, which also had Jonah Laursen and Matt Laylin in the top 20.
Eric Buday was fourth for Charlevoix in 16:56, while Petoskey's Nate Ismond was fifth (16:58) and Elk Rapids' Matt Moss (17:15) was eighth.
Traverse City Central won the junior varsity race with 29 points, followed by TC West (32). The Trojans were led by Evan Cover (first in 17:43) and Max Johnson (17:50).
Harbor Springs wins twin Lake Michigan crowns
Harbor Springs won the Lake Michigan Conference crown in both boys and girls in a race that was run as part of the Elk Rapids Invitational because the league's final meet on Tuesday was canceled due to a flu outbreak.
Harbor edged out Charlevoix by a single point in the boys race, 32 to 33. Elk Rapids (64) was third.
The boys first-team all-conference, determined from the final meet results, is Charlevoix's Eric Buday (16:56), the Elks' Matt Moss (17:15), Harbor's Mike Sydow (17:38) and Ben Kloss (17:39), Charlevoix's Kirk Achraya (17:49) and Andrew Plude (17:52) and the Rams' Nick Cooper (17:55). Honorable mention honors went to Harbor's Connor Buntin and Michael Sutton, Charlevoix's Neil Salisbury, Jon Kelly and Will Jeakle and Elk Rapids' Dylan Sundberg and Pat Janisse.
In the girls event, Harbor won easily, posting a team total of 25 points, with Traverse City St. Francis (61), Charlevoix (72), Elk Rapids (74) and Boyne City (134) rounding out the top five.
Harbor Springs had four first-team honorees, including overall winner Maddie Buntin (20:01) and Kendal McCarthy (20:57), Jessica Hall (21:08) and Kaitlyn Alessi (21:21).
Other first-teamers were St. Francis' Maddy Danz (second in 20:11) and Sarah Arthur (21:19) and Laura Bailey (20:44) of Elk Rapids.
Honorable mention spots went to Harbor's Grace Carbeck, Nicole Love and Katie Hoffman, Bidget Huhta of Elk Rapids and the Charlevoix trio of Hilary Way, Molly Jeakle and Lauren Bartling.
