‘Roots to Fruits’ program
BENZONIA — Michigan Land Use Institute, the May Farm and Grow Benzie will offer a “Resilient Farms and Homesteads” program featuring edible and ecological landscapes.
The program starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at Grow Benzie, 5885 M-115. Trevor Newman and Mark Angelini of Roots to Fruits will discuss water catchment systems, orchard and tree crops and more. Studio Theatre play
TRAVERSE CITY — The Old Town Playhouse Studio Theatre at the Depot will stage “Leaving Iowa.”
The family-friendly comedy will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 30-31, Thursday through Saturday, June 5-7 and June 12-14; and at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 8. The Studio Theatre is located at 620 Railroad Place at The Deport, East Eighth Street and Woodmere Avenue.

Cemetery books on view
MESICK — Local cemetery books will be on display Saturday, May 31, at the Mesick Area Museum, 117 Mesick Ave.
The museum’s cemetery books listing who is buried in that cemetery will be on display from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. In addition a book containing more than 3,400 obituaries collected by a museum volunteer will be on display.
All the books will be available to use.
The museum also is looking for obituaries that have a connection to Mesick or the surrounding area to add to the collection.

GRASP deadline extended
TRAVERSE CITY — The registration deadline for the GRASP at-home reading and math program has been extended into June or while supplies last.
The program for kindergarten through eighth-grade students is designed to help children retain critical language arts and/or math skills over the summer. The cost is $75 for either reading or math; $129 for both. Financial aid is available.

Breeze Hill workshops
TRAVERSE CITY — Breeze Hill Greenhouse will offer “Moss and Sedum Turtle and Wreath Topiaries” and “Hops are Happening” workshops.
Advance registration and a deposit are required to the topiaries workshop that will be offered from 10 a.m.-noon or 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 5.
The cost is determined by the form selected, Samples may be viewed on the greenhouse’s website, www.breezehillgreenhouse.com.
Participants in the “Hops are Happening” workshop at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, will learn about planting hops, brewing beer and more. The workshop is free, but donations for the Father Fred Foundation food pantry are encouraged. Registration is required.
