NMC business classes announced

TRAVERSE CITY — Northwestern Michigan College’s Extended Education program is offering a string of new classes for business owners and entrepreneurs, including a class on how to establish an online retail operation.

Each of the five classes take place in February. They include:

n Becoming an Internet retailer, Feb. 11, 6 to 8:30 p.m. The class helps retailers add online selling to an existing enterprise.

n Bookkeeping for small business, Feb. 18, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Covers basic accounting principles for business owners.

n Intro to Quickbooks, four Fridays, Feb. 7 to Feb. 28, 9 a.m. to noon. Helps you set up your company on Quickbooks.

n The business of Art, two Wednesdays, Feb. 5 and Feb. 12, 6 to 8 p.m. Shows artisans the basics of starting an art business.

n Facebook for business: creating a fan page, Feb. 5, 1 to 4 p.m. Gets you properly positioned for success with Facebook.

“They are short courses that offer timely information, and they are taught by people in business,” said Julie Doyal, program coordinator for NMC’s Extended Education program.
