INTERLOCHEN — The Interlochen Area Chamber of Commerce will host Business After Hours from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17 at Incredible Mo’s, 1355 Silver Lake Crossings Blvd. in Grawn. A $3 donation is requested from members, $5 for non-members.
TRAVERSE CITY — Business owners and individuals considering self-employment will learn about marketing and the legal issues related to running a business in two workshops offered by the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center in Traverse City.
The Marketing Your Business workshop will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the Parsons-Stulen building on NMC’s Aero Park Campus. The workshop will be taught by SBTDC Regional Director and Small Business Consultant Mary Rogers and will focus on practical applications of marketing concepts designed to grow small businesses.
The Business & Legal Issues workshop will be held from 5:30-8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, also in the Parsons-Stulen building on NMC’s Aero Park Campus. The workshop will be taught by SBTDC Small Business Consultant Walt Muellenhagen and will provide an introduction to the different types of legal entities that are appropriate for structuring and starting a new business.

TRAVERSE CITY — NorthSky Nonprofit Network is sponsoring a session for nonprofit leaders, board officers, board members and individuals considering board service from 4 to 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in room 6 at Northwestern Michigan College’s University Center campus. The session, “The Board Primer,” will focus on the fiduciary roles and responsibilities of nonprofit Boards, the requirements for serving on a Board, how to be a best practicing Board and tips for ensuring a Board is functioning well and fulfilling its duties. The workshop leader is Pamela Evans, NorthSky Governance Consultant.

TRAVERSE CITY — NorthSky Nonprofit Network is sponsoring a professional development session for nonprofit organizations, “An Introduction to Salesforce,” from noon to 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, Sept.19, at the Northwestern Michigan College University Center campus, room 5. The session, led by Ashima Saigal of Database Sherpa, will provide an overview of the Salesforce platform and discuss how to use it for managing donors, client tracking, volunteer management and much more.
