Chamber official heads to Consumers

TRAVERSE CITY — An official at the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce accepted a new position with Consumers Energy.

Doug DeYoung worked for the chamber since 2009, and served as vice president of government relations and business development. He said Wednesday he’s accepted a position as a public affairs area manager in the Grand Traverse region.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity,” DeYoung said. “They are a great company in the state, and they are a great company to work for. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to serve our community in this new role.”

DeYoung previously spent 22 years in the television news business.
