Huntington's Jeff Hickman to lead Rotary

TRAVERSE CITY — Huntington Bank executive Jeff Hickman is the new president of the Rotary Club of Traverse City.

Hickman is vice president of business banking for Huntington. He said Wednesday he’s humbled by the opportunity to lead the high-profile civic group.

“It’s quite an honor and privilege,” Hickman said. “It’s a great group of people who continue to strive to make this a better place to live.

“I have two hopes,” Hickman said. “We are very good at fellowship, and we want to continue to enhance that. I also want us to continue to make an impact in the community.”

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service and encourages high ethical standards. Some of the issues the organization tries to address include at-risk children, poverty, hunger, the environment and illiteracy. Rotary is a regular distributor of grants to nonprofits and other charitable endeavors in northern Michigan.

Hickman is a Rotarian since 1985 and replaces outgoing president Ken Osborne. Hickman is a Paul Harris Fellow, a former Rotary board member, group study exchange leader at both club and district levels, and a 25-year member of the Rotary chorus. He’s also a former Rotary Charities board member and grant investigation team member.

Hickman has worked in banking for 30 years, 28 of them in Traverse City. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion from Coe College in Iowa and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota.

“I’m very proud to be a Rotarian,” Hickman said. “I would welcome anyone in the community who wants to connect with us.”
