TRAVERSE CITY — NorthSky Nonprofit Network will host a webinar, “Strategic and Long Range Fund Development Planning,” from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, in three locations in northern Michigan.
The session will be led by Andrea McManus, CRFE, president of the Development Group. It covers how nonprofit leaders can make the mental and planning shift in thinking from year-to-year to longer term outcomes and grow philanthropic revenue.
The program is designed for beginning to advanced practitioners, board members, volunteers and staff. It will be broadcast at the Northwestern Michigan College University Center, Room 9 in Traverse City; the Health Department of Northwest Michigan in Charlevoix; and at the University Center of Gaylord. The fee is $12.

TRAVERSE CITY — AARP Michigan with the U.S. Small Business Administration are hosting “encore entrepreneur” events in Traverse City today and Lansing April 26.
Designed in response to the growing number of older adults seeking to start their own businesses, the encore entrepreneur workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to noon today in Scholars Hall at Northwestern Michigan College, 1701 E. Front, and on Friday, April 26, at the Lansing Community College Small Business & Technology Development Center.

ACME — Grand Traverse Resort and Spa will open the first retail store in the United States dedicated exclusively to the Mud Pie brand. The store will feature a selection of Mud Pie apparel, accessories and gifts for babies, children and women.
A grand opening celebration is planned for Saturday, April 20, in the Resort’s Gallery of Shops. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 11 a.m.
Mud Pie will donate a dime to the March of Dimes for every pair of its signature baby socks sold between now and March 2014 as part of a national, year-long partnership with the March of Dimes.
