Dental society donates to clinic

TRAVERSE CITY — Dr. Brian Rathke, president of the Resort District Dental Society, recently presented a $2,000 award to be used to purchase new dental equipment for the Dental Clinic at Traverse Health Clinic.

The award was made in honor of the late Dr. Charles Ardis, a local dentist and humanitarian, and presented to Jennifer VanWingen, president of the Northland Dental Hygienists’ Society, for their commitment to serving the dental needs of the community.

The dental clinic program is designed to provide increased access to dental care for populations that couldn’t otherwise afford it. It serves patients 200 percent below the poverty level, many who are homeless.
