Elixir Café and Restoratives closed

TRAVERSE CITY — Elixir Café and Restoratives closed permanently with rounds of free coffee for its loyal customers.

“There was just an unforeseeable financial problem that hit us and we just couldn’t continue,” said George Hamzik, who co-owned the business with Jena Hullman. “It was kind of a surprise.”

The café at 517 S. Union St. closed June 16 after opening in March. Hamzik said another business will open in Elixir’s place. There were 10 full-time employees at Elixir.
