n The Homestead has announced two winners of its 2012 “Associate of the Year” Award: Logan Sanders, reservation manager and Merranda Hutchens, laundry manager.

n Mary Jo Barck is a new economic assistant for the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce. She will serve as a primary contact and liaison with area businesses and organizations for the various business development funds and programs administered by the Traverse City Chamber and its partners.

n Two accountants with Vernon D. LaLone, CPA, PC, have achieved their Certified Public Accountant designations. Kati Flees earned her certification in 2012 and Matthew Adams fulfilled his requirements in 2013. A Cedar native, Flees graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Accounting and magna cum laude honors. She has been in public accounting since 2005 and joined Vernon D. LaLone in 2007. Adams graduated from Ferris State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance, and joined the Vernon D. LaLone firm in 2009.

Relocation

n Van Skyhock Family Chiropractic has moved. The office is now located at 3860-3 N. Long Lake Rd. in the Oleson’s Plaza on the corner of N. Long Lake and Cedar Run Roads.

Milestones

The Pregnancy Care Center in Traverse City celebrates 25 years in April. PCC’s medical clinic provides a limited obstetric ultrasound for the purposes of pregnancy confirmation, for those who qualify, along with other services. Pregnancy Care Center is located at 121 S. Garfield Suite C.

Consumers grants

TRAVERSE CITY — Four northern Michigan community organizations focused on the importance of early childhood development are receiving $71,000 in support from Consumers Energy.

The grants are part of the Great Start, Great Futures Summit in Traverse City, which attracted more than 150 community leaders from the region. The grants come from a donor-advised fund established by Consumers Energy’s parent company, CMS Energy, and held by the United Way of Jackson County.

Donations include $30,000 to Great Start Traverse Bay/Manistee for childcare scholarships;

$20,000 to Great Start Wexford/Missaukee for a parent education program; $11,000 to Great Start Collaborative of Cheboygan, Otsego and Presque Isle for preschool scholarships; $10,000 to Great Start Collaborative of Charlevoix, Emmet and Northern Antrim Counties for childcare scholarships and a parent education program
