n Karen Pontius has been named the president of the Suttons Bay Chamber of Commerce for 2013. She is the co-owner and president of Suttons Bay Trading Company, Inc., a spice blending and sales company located in the village.

Also elected to executive committee posts were Lois Bahle, vice president, Bahle's; Kathy Lievense, secretary, Inland Seas Education Center; and Phil Moore, treasurer, Fifth Third Bank.

n Susan Carlyon, a first vice president of investments and financial adviser at the Traverse City office of Raymond James & Associates, Inc., has been named to the firm's 2013 President's Club in recognition of dedication to her clients and a continued desire for professional growth.

n Cherry Wings Realty has announced that Karmin Philp has joined its team of realtors. Philp is a business and community leader with 30-plus years of experience in staffing, customer service and human resources.

n Shoreline Fruit, LLC, has appointed John Sommavilla as chief executive officer, replacing former CEO Ken Swanson, who retired in December of 2012. Sommavilla, was most recently president and CEO of Coles Quality Foods, Inc. in Muskegon.


n McKim & Creed Inc., an engineering, geomatics (surveying) and planning firm with an office in Traverse City as well as throughout the U.S., has purchased the assets of United Engineering Group Inc. (UEG).

UEG provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design services for the energy, health care, higher education, state government, industrial and transportation markets.

n Century 21 Northland has acquired Remerica Up North Properties. The deal gives the real estate brokerage a presence in Elk Rapids and throughout the Torch Lake and Antrim County region.
