n Smith Haughey announced that attorney Timothy M. White, LL.M., joined their Traverse City office. He focuses in the areas of estate planning, trusts, probate litigation, business law and agribusiness, specifically equine law.
n The Community Foundation Board of Directors recently named five new directors for the 2013-2014 board year.
The Board elected Roger Perry of Benzie County; Steve Rawlings and Neal Ronquist of Grand Traverse County; Janet Sieting of Kalkaska County; and Ryan Sterkenburg of Leelanau County.
Roger Perry, of Beulah, spent much of his career in higher education at various colleges and was president of Champlain College for 13 years. He holds a Ph.D. in educational administration from Syracuse University. Since coming to Benzie County, he has been actively involved with the Crystal Lake Watershed Association, the Crystal Lake Yacht Club, the Art Center and the Benzie Sunrise Rotary Club.
In addition to Perry, the Community Foundation Board includes other Benzie County residents Blake Brooks, Doug Cook, Larry Miller and Courtney Morris all of Frankfort and Rex O’Connor of Thompsonville.
Steve Rawlings, of Kingsley, is the regional manager of corporate affairs for DTE Energy. Steve earned his master’s in business administration from Michigan State University. He has been involved with various organizations such as Inland Seas Education Association, MI 4H Foundation, TC Area Chamber Foundation, Traverse Bay Economic Development Corporation and the Northern Lakes Economic Alliance.
Neal Ronquist recently moved to Traverse City and began working as the publisher of the Record-Eagle. A 22-year veteran of the newspaper industry, Neal most recently was group publisher for five daily newspapers in central Indiana. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Augustana College in South Dakota. Previously, Neal was the president of the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau in Austin, Minn., served as a Lions Club and Rotary member, and was a former Chamber president.
In addition to Rawlings and Ronquist, the Community Foundation Board includes other Grand Traverse County Ed Arbut, Warren “Bud” Cline (treasurer), Susan Cogswell (vice-chair), Gail Dall’Olmo, Pam Prairie, Gregg Smith and Jeff Wonacott.
