Burrone's is now a salon and spa, too

TRAVERSE CITY — A downtown barber shop is expanding to offer a full array of salon and spa services.

Burrone’s 1st Class Barber Shop, Salon and Spa kicked off the expansion with a grand opening April 4 at 319 E. Front St. Owner Melissa Burrone said nine years of success led to the expansion. The shop now has two wings – one offers its traditional barber shop fare and the second features a salon and spa with designers, an aesthetician, skin care, makeup, pedicures, manicures, body and facial waxing, even “up dos” for proms and weddings.

“We are also concentrating on a new twist in town called a girls night out party,” Burrone said. “You can book a party here with us. A group of four women or more, and we’ll close our shop at 5 p.m. for you. Then we will pamper you with services like pedicures, manicures, facials, hair and makeup services and we will send you off to the top of the Park Place for your martini. We are going to do stuff in cahoots with the Park Place and also Red Ginger.”

Burrone said the business will still tender its traditional offerings for men, including hair cuts and shaves. Burrone said she’s kept her family name on the business because “I’m really proud of that.”

“A great family experience,” Burrone said. “We have a great design team and we are really family geared. We are kid- and family-friendly.”
