Golf resorts honored

TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, The Inn at Bay Harbor and Boyne Highlands recently were named 2014-2015 Silver Medal winners as part of Golf Magazine’s biennial rankings of the premier golf destinations in the nation.

Comfort Keepers recognized

TRAVERSE CITY — Entrepreneur Magazine recognized Comfort Keepers as the top franchise within the senior care category in its 2014 annual franchise rankings.

The rankings recognize large, financially stable, growing franchises.

Comfort Keepers is a home care business that provides help for people who need clinical care, companionship, meal preparation, housekeeping help or transportation. Owners Russell and Leslie Knopp opened Comfort Keepers of Northern Lower Michigan in 2005.

Bar Association hosts discussion

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim Bar Association is hosting a discussion on forming and organizing a business. Attorney Lawrence LaSusa and SCORE mentor Marshall Persky are leading the free event.

Leadership author to speak

TRAVERSE CITY — Author Angie Morgan will speak about building leadership skills at the Business Owners Speaker Series on Tuesday, April 22 at the Hagerty Center in Traverse City.

Plan enrollment begins April 1

TRAVERSE CITY — Michigan residents can apply for the Healthy Michigan Plan starting April 1. Healthy Michigan is the state’s expanded Medicaid program under the Affordable Care Act.

The Healthy Michigan Plan covers Michigan residents between 19 and 64 who make at or below 133 percent of the poverty level, don’t qualify for Medicare or Medicaid and aren’t pregnant.
