Super cherry new festival mascot

TRAVERSE CITY — There will be a new visitor to the 2014 National Cherry Festival, and his name is Super Cherry.

Super Cherry, the mascot of Frankfort-based Graceland Fruit, is the new official mascot of this summer’s Cherry Festival. He’s described by the dried fruit processor as a “junk food fighting super hero.”

Chrissy Campbell, social media and marketing intern for the Cherry Festival, said the festival’s old mascot, Mr. Cherry, needed a break.

“They had Super Cherry and our Mr. Cherry needs a little bit of repair,” Campbell said. “We are saying he’s on vacation for the time being and Graceland was more than willing to help us out and allow us to use Super Cherry. He’s a little fresher and brighter.”

Super Cherry will roam the Open Space during the festival and promote dried cherries.
