Hospitality training offered in TC
TRAVERSE CITY — Job seekers can prepare for jobs at top hotels and restaurants by taking a Hospitality Training class sponsored by Northwest Michigan Works and the Northwest Michigan Council of Governments.
The training runs March 31 through April 17 and is offered through Northwestern Michigan College. Scholarships are available for eligible training participants.
Topics to be covered in the training include guest service, proper serving techniques, communication skills, professionalism and career opportunities in hospitality.
Participants who successfully complete the 75-hour training program will receive TIPS certification and a certificate of completion from Northwestern Michigan College.
More information about the training and the scholarship eligibility process will be available at an orientation session Monday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Traverse City Michigan Works Service Center, 1209 S. Garfield Ave.

Brownwood Farms goes Non-GMO
TRAVERSE CITY — Brownwood Farms announced that 18 of their 30 products have officially been verified according to the Non-GMO Project including their America’s original cherry butter, barbeque mustard glaze, cherry raspberry preserves and cherry salsa.
According to the Non-GMO Project, GMOs, or ‘genetically modified organisms,’ are plants or animals created through the gene splicing techniques of biotechnology.
