n Shelly Brunette of Real Estate One has been named a member of the Presidents Circle. As an experienced realtor with more than $125 million in career sales in the Grand Traverse region, she is consistently ranked in the top percentage nationwide.

n Cash n Carry Flooring welcomes Robin Whipple to their team of sales professionals. She has been in the flooring business for 26 years, specializing in all aspects of flooring design.

n Joan Cowley Ursu recently joined the team at Intentional Wealth Advisors in Traverse City, specializing in insurance solutions for estate planning, business and tax planning and long term care. She brings years of experience as a practicing attorney to the strategic planning needs of the firm and its clients.

n State Rep. Wayne Schmidt, R-Traverse City, took home Legislator of the Year honors at the 2014 Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism, produced by the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association. Schmidt, chair of the House of Representative’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, was recognized for his commitment to Michigan’s tourism industry.

n Shirley Allison of Pointes North Beachfront Resort in Traverse City was named the 2014 Guest Relations Star of the Year during the Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism.

Recognition

n The National Asphalt Pavement Association announced recently that Rieth-Riley Construction Co., Inc. of Grawn, has won a 2013 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in construction of an asphalt pavement project.

Rieth-Riley Construction Co., Inc. won the award for its work on the Cherry Capital Airport’s runway 10/28 and taxiways D and G extension.

The runway work required 24-hour staffing to meet the tight paving schedule requested. A large portion of the paving was completed at night, creating difficult paving conditions. Extreme care was taken to reduce the number and location of joints to provide a smooth and functional surface on which large aircraft can land.
