Business owners invited to learn about going green

TRAVERSE CITY — Environmental Protection, Inc., is hosting a meeting Friday for business-owners, contractors and government officials to learn more about Property Assessed Clean Energy, a community initiative that allows businesses to pay off loans for commercial clean energy projects through their local property taxes.

The meeting’s goal is to build understanding of the initiative and support bringing it to Grand Traverse County, according to a press release.

Andy Levin, president of Lean & Green Michigan, a public-private partnership that helps commercial, industrial and multi-family property owners finance energy projects, will give the presentation. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions and informally talk about their companies’ needs for better ways to finance energy efficiency, water efficiency and renewable energy improvements. The meeting will run from 8-9:30 a.m. at Environmental Protection, Inc., 1567 S. Airport Road in Traverse City.
