Marketing primer

TRAVERSE CITY — Nonprofit leaders, staff and volunteers are invited to a workshop titled “Demystifying Marketing: A Marketing Primer for Nonprofit Organizations.” It is sponsored by NorthSky Nonprofit Network.

The session will be held Thursday from noon-2 p.m. at Northwestern Michigan College’s University Center on Dendrinos Drive off Cass Road.

Business After Hours

LAKE LEELANAU — The Leelanau Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will hold Business After Hours on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Dick’s Pour House, 103 W. Philip St.

Professional training

TRAVERSE CITY — Registration closes Friday for a statewide inland lakeshore certification training titled “Certified Natural Shoreline Professional.”

The CNSP training, offered by the Michigan Natural Shoreline Partnership, equips marine and landscape contractors with tools to expand their business services to lakefront property owners looking for alternatives to sea walls, rock and turf to the water’s edge. It is open to interested individuals statewide.

The three-day classroom component will be held Tuesday through Thursday, Feb. 18-20, at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center. The certification exam and one-day field component will be held on June 11 near Petoskey. To receive certification, participants must attend all three days of classroom instruction, participate in the one-day, hands-on field construction project and pass the certification exam.

Home Builders Expo

ACME — The Home Builders Association of the Grand Traverse Area will host its Home Expo at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.

The Expo will feature exhibits by more than 125 building contractors, remodelers, landscapers, financiers and other businesses related to the region’s construction and remodeling industry. Expo hours are Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Feb. 16.
