'Starting a Business' workshop offered

TRAVERSE CITY — A new workshop is available for individuals considering self-employment or starting a new business.

The Starting a Business workshop is offered in Traverse City by the Northwest Michigan Small Business Development Center.

The workshop will be Feb. 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Parsons-Stulen building on Northwestern Michigan College’s Aero Park campus.

“We hope that the first objective is for people that they get the information they need,” Mary Rogers regional director for SBDC of northwest Michigan. “For those who find what we talk about exhilarating or exciting, we can’t wait to help them take the next step.”

The workshop will be taught by SBDC business consultant Walt Muellenhagen.

It will help aspiring entrepreneurs assess their abilities to lead and evaluate market and sales potential for their products or services.

Start-up costs, financing options, and business planning will be introduced, along with necessary steps to getting started.

There is no charge to attend the workshop, but preregistration is required at northwestmichiganbusiness.com.
