CAR seminars returning to area

TRAVERSE CITY — An automotive research seminar that draws more than 900 auto executives and researchers to the Traverse City area is scheduled for Aug. 4 to 7 at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.

The Center for Automotive Research Briefing Seminars examines the future of the automotive industry, including trends in manufacturing, materials and new developments in power train systems.

“It benefits the Traverse City area in a lot of ways,” said Lisa Hart, CAR’s vice president of operations. “It’s always at the Resort and they are a terrific partner to work with. We also have a lot of events, dinners and social hours ... so it helps the local restaurants and local hotels.”

Hart said this year’s seminars will document the newest technologies to increase fuel mileage in vehicles, given new mandates from the federal government to car makers to increase fuel efficiency standards.

“There will be a lot of discussion about the technology of getting cars more fuel efficient and how do you get the weight out of the vehicle?” Hart said.

Registration for the seminars opens March 17. For more information contact Hart at 734-929-0465 or at
