Auto Tech Night

TRAVERSE CITY — Auto and diesel technicians will have an opportunity to talk shop at Auto and Diesel Technicians Night sponsored by Northwestern Michigan College, Northwest Michigan Council of Governments and Northwest Michigan Works! The event will be held March 5 from 4 to 7:30 p.m., at NMC’s Parsons-Stulen Building, 2600 Aero Park Drive.

Admission is free and anyone interested in learning more about the field is welcome.

Exhibitors include Bill Marsh Auto Group, Cornwell Tools, Ferris State University, Fox Motors, Grand Traverse Diesel Service, Grand Traverse County Road Commission, Hilltop Truck Maintenance, Just Trucks, Marathon Automotive, Northwest Michigan Works, NMC, Sears Auto Center, Snap-on Tools, Star Truck Rentals, Team Elmer’s, Watson’s Auto Group, and William’s Auto Group.

Board primer

TRAVERSE CITY — NorthSky Nonprofit Network will sponsor a session for nonprofit leaders, board officers, board members and individuals considering board service, on Feb. 25 from 4 to 7 p.m., at Northwestern Michigan College’s University Center campus.

“The Board Primer” will focus on the fiduciary roles and responsibilities of nonprofit boards, the requirements for serving on a board, how to be a best practicing board and tips for ensuring a board is functioning well and fulfilling its duties. The workshop leader is Pamela Evans, NorthSky Governance Consultant.

The workshop fee is $35 and includes light refreshments and materials. Registration is required by contacting www.northskynonprofitnetwork.org or by calling 929-3934.

Virtual job fair

TRAVERSE CITY — Job seekers and employers can connect with each other at the Michigan Virtual Career Fair on Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Northwest Michigan Works Service Centers in Cadillac, Petoskey and Traverse City.

MiVirtualCareerFair is an online career fair organized by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and features jobs in all industries from across the entire state. Northwest Michigan Works is providing computer access for job seekers who want to participate. Staff will be available to help job seekers with targeted job search techniques that are suited to a virtual environment.
