MVP — Recognition

-- Scott Sehi, owner of WIN Home Inspection Traverse City, is a 2012 recipient of the WIN President's Excellence in Customer Service Award. A customer service ranking of 98.9 percent makes him No. 1 throughout the entire WIN franchise system of more than 168 locations in 28 states. In addition, Sehi is expanding beyond Grand Traverse County and will now service Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Kalkaska, Leelanau and Manistee counties.

-- Marty Rhein, senior designer at BAC Design Group, has been named a certified bath designer by the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA). Rhein joined BAC earlier this year after operating his own firm, Rhein Design, for four years. He has an additional 15 years of experience in design and has also worked in graphic and advertising design. To become a certified kitchen and/or bath designer, candidates must develop a thorough understanding of nine volumes of NKBA Kitchen & Bath Planning Guidelines & Access Standards and have seven years of related experience. In addition, they must submit client and business owner references.

-- Bay Area Contracting of Traverse City was honored with awards in two categories during the recent Home Builders Association of the Grand Traverse Area Parade of Homes and Developments. Owner Dean Adams' entry in the $290,000 to $350,000 category received a Judge's Choice Award as well as awards for craftsmanship, master suite and interior design. The home was also a runner up in the kitchen and exterior design categories. Runner-up kitchen design and craftsmanship honors were also given to Bay Area Contracting's entry in the $450,000 to $600,000 category.

-- A poster series that Greenlight Marketing created for Traverse Health Clinic will be featured in the December issue of Lurzer's Archive. The Austrian-based publication recognizes creative excellence in advertising from around the world. The posters will be included with work from other ad agencies, many of which are larger, international firms. It's the third time in as many years that Greenlight has been featured in Lurzer's Archive. Greenlight Marketing is a full-service marketing communications firm based in Traverse City.

-- The Northwest Chapter Of Michigan Society Of Medical Assistants received the following awards at the 2012 Spring Convention in Livonia:

Community outreach — By teaming up with the Father Fred Foundation and Glen's Market on Eighth St. for a Turkey Drive in November 2011, the chapter helped provide food for more than 120 families over the 2011 Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Chapter newsletter — Second place award for the chapter's newsletter with content pertaining to local, state and national news on medical assisting.

ChapterMistie Atkins, CMA, (AAMA), for being a team player both with her chapter and at her place of employment, Munson Family Practice.

Certified Medical Assistant of the Year — Cheryl Bouschor, CMA, (AAMA) for her outstanding work at Pulmonary and Critical Care.

Special honors were also given to Tracie Hardy, CMA, (AAMA) as chapter president 2011-2012.

-- The Northwest Michigan Council of Governments has received a 2012 Innovation Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) Research Foundation for the Northern Michigan Community Placemaking Guidebook.

NMCOG released the Guidebook earlier this year to provide information and resources to help communities implement placemaking. It includes case studies of placemaking projects in six northern Michigan communities.
