Personnel

-- Kathy Neer has recently joined Peterson McGregor & Associates as an Account Manager in the Personal Lines Department. She is a licensed Property and Casualty producer and brings 20 years of insurance experience.

-- Craig Leppien has joined Northwestern Bank's Investments, Trust, Retirement Services team as a financial adviser and trust officer. He has more than eight years of experience in banking and investments.

-- Frederick J. Turcotte is the new chief financial officer for Hagerty Classic Car and Boat Insurance. He has 25 years of experience in the insurance and asset management industries, and was most recently a vice president, investor relations officer and tax director for OneBeacon Insurance Group.

-- Three incumbents were re-elected to the Great Lakes Energy Board. Ed Estelle of Elmira, Larry Monshor of Gaylord and Susan Scott of Evart were re-elected to 3-year terms in the by-mail election. Great Lakes Energy serves 124,000 members/customers in 26 northern and western Michigan counties.

New Web site

-- Financial & Investment Management Group, Ltd. (FIM Group) has launched their new Web site after months of development and redesign. The Web site, www.fimg.net, offers improved access and expanded content. FIMG has locations in Traverse City, Wisconsin and Hawaii.

Recognition

-- McLain Cycle and Fitness in Traverse City has been named the No. 1 Specialized Bike dealer in the state of Michigan for two consecutive years. They competed for top honors with 50 other dealers, and have been one of the top 100 Specialized dealers nationally for the past six years.

-- Family Markets, Inc. of Honor and Copemish was named the 2008 Outstanding Business Member of the Year by the Benzie County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

New name

-- Chef Perry Harmon, chef/owner of Provisions Ltd., a local gourmet food products wholesaler, announced that effective immediately his company is now known as Way North Foods. There will be new additions to the product lineup this fall and winter. Visit the company's new Web site at www.waynorthfoods.com.

Events

-- Cherry Capital Airport and the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa will host the annual convention of the TBM Owners and Pilots Association Inc. from Sept. 3 - 7. It's the owners group for the Socata TBM700 and TBM850 aircraft, the fastest single-engine business aircraft on the market. Organizers said the event is expected to attract 75 aircraft and 200 participants, and generate an estimated $300,000 for the local economy.

-- Registration for the 2008 Business Expo of the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce begins Sept. 12. The event will be held Nov. 18 at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, and registration forms will be available on the chamber's Web site at www.tcchamber.org.
