-- Michigan Messenger's senior fellow Eartha Jane Melzer received an honorable mention for the National Press Club's Sandy Hume Award for Excellence in Political Journalism for 2008. Melzer's recognition comes for her investigative reporting on Chicago-based Sovereign Deed, a private security firm seeking to locate a disaster-response center in Pellston.
