Personnel

-- Lee A. MacDonald is the new director of spa and recreation at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa. She will oversee budgets, programs, operations and staff at the spa and health club. She previously worked in spa management and marketing at Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City.

-- Packaging-industry leader Steve Duchon has become a partner and president of Plasport, a division of Plascon, headquartered in Traverse City. Duchon is responsible for growing and expanding the capacity of Plasport, which specializes in manufacturing form-fit liners for use in flexible, intermediate-bulk containers, Gaylord box liners, Y-hood pallet covers and specialty liners.

Associations

-- Dan Giroux, President of Crest Financial Inc. of Traverse City, participated in a recent conference in Washington, D.C., of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers and the Michigan Mortgage Brokers Association. As MMBA vice chairman of the professional standards committee, Giroux oversees all aspects of industry guidelines.

Recognition

-- Keith L. Wright of Wright and Associates Insurance Group, Inc. has qualified for the Leading Producers Round Table (LPRT) of the National Association of Health Underwriters Lifetime Eagle Award, given for professional excellence in the sale of health and disability income insurance for 10 or more years. Mark McLane of Wright and Associates qualified for the association's President's Council Award. The award is given for sales of health and disability income insurance.

Training

-- Dawn M. Hemming, president of hemming& in Traverse City, joined 28 colleagues from AIG Advisor Group American General Securities Inc. in Phoenix, Ariz., for an invitation-only study group. Hemming is one of only two women in the top 1 percent in the nation. She specializes in retirement planning for individuals and local small businesses.

-- Holiday Vacation Rentals opened an office in Glen Arbor, offering services to owners of homes, cottages, condominiums and condo associations.
