Police: Shooting range death self-inflicted

TRAVERSE CITY — A man who died of a gunshot wound at a local shooting range shot himself, police said.

The incident occurred at Shooters Indoor Gun & Archery Range in Blair Township Tuesday afternoon.

Police today said the East Jordan man, 55, shot himself.

“It’s very clearly a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Grand Traverse Undersheriff Nate Alger said. “No other shooters were on the range at the time of the incident.”

Alger wouldn’t say if the shooting appeared intentional.
