TRAVERSE CITY —
Police said a man robbed Walgreens pharmacy on South Airport Road this afternoon and drove away with drugs.
Grand Traverse sheriff's deputies responded to a robbery just after 1 p.m. at Walgreens at 975 S. Airport South Road, just east of Garfield Avenue in Garfield Township. Deputies said a man in a black or dark green Pontiac Grand Am drove up to the pharmacy drive-thru window, gave the clerk a note indicating there was a bomb in the building, and demanded Ritalin and morphine.
Deputies said the suspect's vehicle was reported stolen from a nearby dealership earlier today.
The clerk gave the suspect drugs and he drove away. He's described as a white male with long hair. He wore a gray, hooded sweatshirt.
It's the third daylight robbery in just over a month at retail outlets in Garfield Township, and the second involving a Walgreens store. See Saturday's Record-Eagle for more on this story.
