TRAVERSE CITY — A Traverse City teen suspected in Carly Lewis’ slaying waited two days after he killed her to bury her body in a sand pile, police said.
Traverse City police believe the suspect, 17, killed Carly, 16, on June 2 in a small, vacant metal building in the 700 block of Beitner Street near Woodmere Avenue. He waited two days, then moved the body to a nearby parking lot outside Traverse City’s public works complex off Barlow Street, city police Capt. Brian Heffner said.
Authorities on Tuesday evening found Carly’s body. The suspect remains in the Grand Traverse County Jail.
Police won’t identify the suspect until he’s arraigned.
