Police: Two dead in downtown shooting

TRAVERSE CITY — Two men were shot to death in a parking lot south of downtown this afternoon.

Traverse City Police Capt. Steve Morgan the victims have not been identified and no suspects have been apprehended. He said the victims were "adult males." The victims' bodies are in a parking lot behind The Blue Tractor Cookshop, 423 S. Union.

Mike Deering, owner of Maxbauer's Specialty Meat Market on Union Street, told the Record-Eagle he saw "two dead guys laying in the parking lot. And it looks like (one) had a long gun."

"I'm shocked. I don't feel threatened," Deering said. "I've lived here all my life and I've never seen anything like that."
