PESHAWBESTOWN — Unofficial results are in for the tribal council election of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.
Two-term incumbent Chairman Robert Kewaygoshkum beat challenger Derek Bailey with about 53 percent of the votes.
Incumbents David Arroyo and Sandra Witherspoon and newcomer Brian Napont won council seats.
Arroyo garnered the most votes with 20 percent, followed by Witherspoon with 19 percent and Napont with 17 percent. They defeated challengers Steven Feringa, Suzanne McSawby and Thomas Peters.
Nearly 460 tribal members cast their votes, which is about 53 percent of registered voters, said election official Sam Evans.
