Lupus support

TRAVERSE CITY — A Michigan Lupus Foundation support group will meet on Wednesday, April 17.

TRAVERSE CITY — Bethany Christian Services will hold a free state adoption and foster care orientation on Thursday, April 18.

Orientation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at Bethany’s Traverse City location, 1055 Carriage Hill Dr. Adoption specialists will present options to prospective families. For details or reservations, call 995-0870 or visit www.bethany.org.

Hymn Sing

TRAVERSE CITY — Central United Methodist Church celebrates 100 years worshiping under the dome with its 2013 Hymn Sing.

The Rev. Marv Rosa will lead the event starting at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at the church, 222 Cass St. A freewill offering will benefit hunger and disaster relief efforts through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).

Aging series

TRAVERSE CITY — Alternative medicine specialists Jill Donberg and Elon Camerson, both from the Grand Traverse Natural Health Clinic, will be the featured speakers at the Monday, April 22, Successful Aging Series program.

The program, titled “Alternative Medicine Folk or Fact: Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine,” will be presented at 2 p.m. at the Grand Traverse Pavilions off South Elmwood Avenue. There is no charge and the public is welcome.

Volunteer help

TRAVERSE CITY — Third Level Crisis Intervention Center has openings for crisis counselor volunteers and interns.

Potential volunteers must be at least 18 years old, commit to 150 hours of service, pass criminal background checks and have adequate computer experience. Forty hours of free training will be provided and starts at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2.
