Aquatic classes

TRAVERSE CITY — Two new aquatic classes will be offered in July at the Grand Traverse Pavilions Wellness Center.

Aquatics for Parkinson’s will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursdays. It will focus on balance, breathing and smooth full -body movements in a warm, safe environment.

Power Up from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesdays is for people limited in basic daily functioning due to obesity and who have struggled with becoming more active.

Participants in both classes must be independent getting in and out of the pool, however caregivers are welcome to help in the locker room. Each class is $50 for five weeks. For details or registration, call 932-3172 or visit www.gtpavilions.org.

Hot dog sale

EMPIRE — The Empire Lions Club will hold their Big Boom Hot Dog Sale fundraiser Thursday through Sunday, July 4-7, near the entrance to the Empire Public Beach.

Sale hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proceeds benefit local youth recreation activities, college scholarships, the Leader Dog School, Michigan Eye Bank, and international sight, hearing, and diabetes education and awareness programs.

Church garage sale

MANCELONA — Mancelona United Methodist Church will hold a garage sale to benefit church outreach and mission projects from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 5-6, at 501 E. State St. For details, call 587-8461.

Church bazaar

NORTHPORT — Trinity Lutheran Church, UCC, will host its annual bazaar on Saturday, July 6.

The bazaar will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, 103 N. Warren St. “Stone Soup” will be available to eat in or take home. There also will be baked goods, attic treasures, crafts and a limited number of rugs and placemats just off the loom.

Hospice volunteers

TRAVERSE CITY — Hospice of Michigan is in need of volunteers and will hold volunteer training from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Thursday, July 8 and 11, at the Traverse City office, 900 E.
