TRAVERSE CITY — An eight-week senior Yoga on the Beach series starts Tuesday, July 9, at the Senior Center Network, 801 E. Front St.

Jamaica Lynn Weston of Enlightened Movement will lead the 45-minute class that starts at 7:45 a.m. No mats are necessary. Seniors who register by Monday, July 8, receive a discount. The cost is $35 for Senior Center Network members. The drop-in rate is $5 per class. For details or to register, call 922-4911.

Burgers and brats

TRAVERSE CITY — Old Mission Congregational Church will hold a burger and brats cookout from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, at the church, 18678 Mission Road. Donations will be accepted. For details, call Penny Paulley, 223-4844.

 

Church celebrates

TRAVERSE CITY — Bay Pointe Community Church, 6880 Secor Road, invites the community to help celebrate its 15th anniversary.

On Friday, July 12, there will be an outdoor party from 5 to 10 p.m. on the Bay Pointe campus with live music by Levi Britton and Drew Hale, food, family games and more.

The Weekend Worship Celebration at 9:15 and 11:15 a.m. Sunday, July 14, will feature an appearance by the world’s most recorded bass player Abraham Laboriel.

Fun Fair VBS

TRAVERSE CITY — Old Mission Peninsula United Methodist Church will offer “Everywhere Fun Fair” Vacation Bible School for children entering kindergarten through sixth grade.

Relay for Life event

KALKASKA — The American Cancer Society Kalkaska Relay for Life team “The Allnighters” will sponsor a golf outing fundraiser starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Twin Birch Golf Course.

The cost is $45 per person or $180 for a foursome, which includes 18 holes of golf with a cart and lunch. There also will be a silent auction.

Registration and payment are required by Saturday, July 13. For details; call Rose Konsdorf, 384-3131 or 384-6011.

Workshops slated

TRAVERSE CITY — The Area Agency on Aging is looking for individuals interested in participating in free diabetes and chronic pain workshops.

The workshops will meet for six 90-minute sessions at various community locations in northwest Michigan. Workshop dates have yet to be determined.

Community garden

ACME — Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church is cultivating a community garden at the future site of its new church, 7111 U.S. 31 North.

The Angels Community Garden is approximately a square acre and is the first phase of the church’s mission to create a community dedicated to practicing the word of God. The garden’s “Seed to Feed” objective is to grow organic vegetables and fruit to help feed the needy.
