---- — Knit for Safe Harbor

TRAVERSE CITY — Knitters are invited to participate in an interdenominational knitting project for Safe Harbor.

Head warmer kits will be distributed and hands-on instruction will be available for beginners at a soup and salad luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Catholic Church, 1221 S. Union St. Non-knitters also can support the project by sponsoring a knitter with a $25 donation to Safe Harbor. For details or reservations, call 947-0024 or email margaret.quinn0684@att.net.

Urgent Care hours

TRAVERSE CITY — Munson Urgent Care will offer holiday hours on Thanksgiving Day.

The clinic will be open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and is located at Munson Community Health Center, 550 Munson Ave. For details, call 935-8686.

Thanksgiving meal

EAST JORDAN — The community is invited to a Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Nicholls Street. A social hour starts at 1 p.m. followed by dinner at 2 p.m.

Holiday dinner

CHARLEVOIX — The Charlevoix Ministerial Association will sponsor a community Thanksgiving dinner from noon-3 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 1003 Bridge St. The meal is free and the public is welcome. Call 547-4813 to learn more.

Festival of Trees

BENZONIA — The Habitat for Humanity of Benzie County’s Festival of Trees will feature a reading of Truman Capote’s “A Christmas Memory.”

Festival hours are noon-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday at the Benzie Area Historical Museum, 6941 Traverse Ave. Amy Ferris will read Capote’s “A Christmas Memory” at 3 p.m. Saturday. More than 50 locally decorated wreaths and trees will be sold by silent auction to benefit local Habitat for Humanity projects. There also will be a “buy it now” option.

Festival admission is by donation and proceeds will be shared by the museum and Habitat for Humanity.

Canstruction teams

TRAVERSE CITY — The Father Fred Foundation is looking for youth and adult teams to participate in its Canstruction-TC event and sponsors for the event’s youth teams.

Teams work with local architects, who donate their time and expertise, to develop a theme and create a design for each team’s canned goods sculptures. Canstruction “build day” is Feb. 22 at the Grand Traverse Mall, where structures will be on display through March 1. All food items used to build the structures will be donated to Father Fred’s food pantry.
