Ash Wednesday

Lenten services

TRAVERSE CITY — The Very Rev. Daniel P. Richards of Grace Episcopal Church will administer ashes at services on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 7 a.m., and at 12:30 and 6:30 p.m. at the church, 341 Washington St. Child care is provided for the evening service. For details, call 947-2330.

'safeTALK' class

TRAVERSE CITY — Third Level Crisis Center is offering a safeTALK (Suicide Alertness for Everyone) workshop on Friday, Feb. 22. The registration deadline is Thursday, Feb. 14.

The workshop is for community members with all levels of helping experience interested in learning practical skills to competently and confidently connect a person at risk of suicide to help. It will meet 9 a.m.-noon at the Grand Traverse County Health Department, 2600 LaFranier Road. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m.

Intro to Qigong

TRAVERSE CITY — An introduction to the Chinese exercise of Qigong will be offered at the Grand Traverse Bay Area Stroke Club on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

Stroke club members will meet from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster. Joan D'Argo will guide members in Qigong, a gentle movement series that can be done seated or standing.

Lenten Luncheons

TRAVERSE CITY — Church Women United will host a series of lunches on Thursdays during Lent at The Presbyterian Church of Traverse City, 701 Westminster.

The series opens Thursday, Feb. 14, with lunch at 11:30 a.m., followed by music at noon by Jim Seidel and a Lenten message from 12:30 to 1 p.m. by the Rev. Becky Chamberlain. A $3 donation per person is suggested. For details, call 938-1387.
