Advent Quiet Time
TRAVERSE CITY — The Centering Prayer Community at Grace Episcopal Church will host an Advent Quiet Time on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The community is invited to gather from 10-11:15 a.m. at the church, 341 Washington St., for a time of silence, scripture, meditation and Taize singing designed to nurture the soul. Call 947-2330 to learn more.
INTERLOCHEN — The Katharine Guild at Redeemer Lutheran Church will host its 14th annual Cookie Walk on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The event will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church, Rogers Road and U.S. 31. Homemade cookies will be sold for $7 a pound. There also will be a silent auction and a kids-only gift shop where children may purchase gifts for their parents. Proceeds benefit the Katharine Guild’s ministries and community projects.
TRAVERSE CITY — St. Francis Parish will host its Christmas Festival on Sunday, Dec. 8.
The festival will be held from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the St. Francis High School gym on East 11th Street. There will be an old-fashioned chicken dinner, a Christmas cookie sale, a $10,000 grand prize raffle and more. The meal is $8 for adults, $6 for children and $30 per family. Love Lights shine
TRAVERSE CITY — Munson Hospice will host its 18th annual Love Light Celebration on Sunday, Dec. 8.
The event starts at 2 p.m. at Traverse City Art and Design Studio, 1207-C Woodmere Ave., and honors loved one who have died. It includes an inspiring message by the Rev. Homer Nye, an opportunity to enjoy artwork and time for reflection. A reception follows the service.
The Love Light Tree will be located through January in the lobby at Munson Community Health Center, 550 Munson Ave. Three additional Love Light Trees will be located on the lawn at Munson Medical Center, 1105 Sixth St., during December.

Harp session set
TRAVERSE CITY — Sharon Olson, Ph.D., GNP, is offering free 30-minute modal music sessions with harp for nursing students.
Harps for Hope is offered by appointment from 1-3 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month from December through April at Olson’s office, 13795 Seven Hills Road, in suite L of the Seven Hills Business Complex. The first session is Sunday, Dec. 8. For details or an appointment, call Olson, 313-8811.
TRAVERSE CITY — Bay Pointe Community Church will offer a DivorceCare/Surviving the Holidays program on Sunday, Dec. 8.

TRAVERSE CITY — The Community Meals Program is looking for donations of time, food and money for its 24th annual Community Christmas Dinner.
The meal will be served from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1003 S.
