The Traverse City branch of Bethany Christian Services has received a $40,000 grant from Rotary Charities of Traverse City, $4,000 from the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation’s Campbell Endowment, and $5,000 from GTRCF’s Youth Endowment. The funds will be used to expand Bethany’s Safe Families for Children ministry.

Safe Families for Children is designed to provide support to parents in crisis, helping to keep children out of the foster care system, prevent child abuse, support pregnant and parenting teens and strengthen families.

It enlists host families from local churches and communities to provide temporary care for children whose parents are experiencing personal difficulties, so they can work through their troubles without placing their children in foster care.

Host families also can provide support to pregnant or parenting teens in need.

Host families do not receive financial compensation.
