Keryx ministry benefit

TRAVERSE CITY — The St. Patrick Men’s Club will prepare a pancake breakfast on Sunday to benefit the Traverse Area Keryx Prison Ministry.

Keryx is a layman-led, nonprofit Christian-based ministry using the Emmaus and DeColores method designed for any correctional institution. Its goal is to bring the Gospel inside prison walls. Keryx provides the resources, materials and food for each three-day weekend, which can cost between $75 and $100 per inmate.

The meal will be served from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Church, 630 W. Silver Lake Road. The suggested donation is $5.50 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 5 and older, free for children 4 and younger and $20 per family. Additional donations are welcome. For details, call Alan Staley, 943-8545.

Passover program

TRAVERSE CITY — Peter Shirokov will present “Messiah in the Passover,” a demonstration of the Passover Feast, also known as the Last Supper as described in the Gospel of Matthew.

Shirokov was born and raised in Siberia, Russia, in an atheistic family. His parents were divorced and he grew up not knowing his Jewish father or his heritage. In 1991, Shirokov heard the Christian gospel for the first time. In 1992, he felt called to ministry and moved to the United States, where he has worked among the Russian Jewish communities in Atlanta, Ga., and New York, N.Y.

The presentation will start at 6 p.m. Sunday at Long Lake Friends Church, 4172 Church Road. Local recording artist Tim Harding will lead the worship. Samples of Passover foods will be served.

Tickets are $5 each to help cover ministry and food expenses. They are available at the church or may be reserved by calling 944-2183. An offering also will be collected for Shirokov. To learn more, visit
