Gamblers support

TRAVERSE CITY — Gamblers Anonymous meets from 6:30-8 p.m. every Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1050 Peninsula Dr. The next meeting is Monday, Jan 6.

Virtual gastric band

TRAVERSE CITY — Higher Self Bookstore will offer a free introduction to “Virtual Gastric Band Hypno-Therapy.”

The program will be presented from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the bookstore, 328 E. Front St., by LifeStyle Engineer Ricki Blanchard. For details, call 941-5805.

Harp class

TRAVERSE CITY — Marilyn Wares will introduce the tranquility lap harp in a free class on Sunday, Jan. 12.

The class will meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in downtown Traverse City. No musical experience is needed and harps will be furnished for the class. Registration is required.

‘Financial Peace’

TRAVERSE CITY — Bay Pointe Community Church will offer Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University.

Classes meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays from Jan. 13-March 10 at the church, 6880 Secor Road. The series features video teaching, class discussion and interactive small group activities. Child care is available.

Caregiver support

SUTTONS BAY — A support group geared toward adult children coping with the task of caring for aging parents is being formed. The focus will be on providing a welcoming environment for sharing issues, finding solutions and networking.

The group will meet at 7 p.m. twice a month at the Suttons Bay/Bingham fire hall community room starting Tuesday, Jan. 14. Caregivers of chronically ill spouses also are invited. For details, email leelanaucaregivers@yahoo.com.

Pavilions open house

TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Traverse Pavilions will host an open house for its Wellness Center and its Rehab Center on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Opened in 2002, the Wellness Center offers a broad range of multi-age programs and services. Several years ago it was enhanced by the addition of the Rehab Center which offers short-term rehabilitation to individuals who have been hospitalized or who have chosen elective surgery to repair hips, knees, back or shoulders. The Rehab Center features 21 semi-private and private accommodations.

The open house will be held from 4-8 p.m. at the Pavilions off South Elmwood Avenue. The 92-degree therapy pool and the Poplar and Beech gyms and their equipment will be available for viewing along with simulated living spaces. Call 932-3027 or visit www.gtpavilions.com to learn more.
